Job Description

As part of Tigo's offering, our backend server infrastructure monitors millions of solar panels every second of every day around the world creating billions of datapoints for us to analyze in real time. If you're interested in scale, this is the place to be!

The Server DevOps engineer will be part of the software engineering and contribute to the goal of creating a highly performant infrastructure. They will aide in the task of deploying an automated infrastructure and monitoring it for any failures or performance issues.

The primary duties are to help build out the chain to automate deployment of bare metal server and setting up a containerized infrastructure to help speed up deployments of software, keeping it highly available, and secure. Should be able to diagnose issues with server hardware, networking, and software related issues.

An interest for managing a lot of data and dedication to creating automation and hosting web related services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Gitlab instance and Continuous integration tools.
  • Control services in AWS for various web related functions.
  • Create hardware requirements and purchasing servers.
  • Diagnose & fix server related issues.
  • Monitor and report issues related to networking
  • Confidently test and deploy configurations and software
  • Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large, distributed software applications
  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years linux server administration
  • hands on experience with bare metal servers
  • experience with automation tools like ansible, CI, docker
  • knowledge of server hardware and networking fundamentals
  • experience with scripting languages and fixing issues fast
  • knowledge of databases, web hosting, and other web services
  • experience of setting up routers, switches, and other networking gear
  • knowledge in distributed storage systems like ceph
